Cloud Security Engineer

As a Cloud Security Engineer, youll define security boundaries for our Cloud setup, implement preventive and detective controls, and automate monitoring and metrics in an innovative, collaborative environment. About the Role
As a Cloud Security Engineer, youll be at the forefront of protecting our cloud infrastructure, developing and implementing security solutions that safeguard our digital assets. Youll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our cloud environment remains secure while enabling business innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build detective or preventive controls and automated response solutions
- Automate tasks by consuming and building APIs
- Develop self-service tools and frameworks for enhanced security
- Improve metrics and monitoring to ensure the reliability of our security infrastructure
- Analyse existing documentation, source code, and logs to understand complex system interactions
- Provide security guidance on new products and technologies
- Explore and leverage modern technologies and their security features
- Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
About the Team
Our team is the focal point for all security activities across Swiss Re. We are responsible for cybersecurity engineering and operations, governance, risk and compliance, and defining as well as advancing the companys security strategy. As part of the Cloud Security Team, Security Engineers shape the security of Swiss Res public cloud domain and serve as the trusted advisors for security-related guidance on any IT project in the company. We specialize in technologies focused on public cloud security.
About You
Youre a security enthusiast with a passion for cloud technologies and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy staying ahead of emerging security trends. Your analytical mindset allows you to anticipate potential vulnerabilities and develop innovative solutions to complex security challenges.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Significant knowledge of major cybersecurity concepts, technologies, and standard methods with willingness to explore new areas
- Deep expertise in several cybersecurity areas including network and application security, identity and access management, and modern authentication protocols
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices, including usage of tools like Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps
- Hands-on experience in public cloud providers: AWS, Azure, Google, Alibaba.
- Experience in automation, coding and/or scripting using languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Bash, Golang, Python, Perl, Terraform or similar
- Familiarity with the implications of security standards in regulated environments
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English, both spoken and written
These are additional nice to haves:
- Palantir software and/or services.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft, CISSP, CCSP, SANS GIAC or similar qualifications
- German or Chinese language skills
- Experience with endpoint or mobile security solutions
- Knowledge of Microsoft Workplace and Office products in enterprise-grade configurations
For Spain, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 42,000 and EUR 70,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicants own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.
