Data Engineer (f/m/d)
Join Axpo Services EMEA S.L. as a Data Engineer and play a key role in the newly established G D Digital Data Team. This is your opportunity to work on impactful initiatives, develop modern data products, and contribute to the modernization of the G D data landscape using the Axpo Group Data Platform (Databricks). Grow with the team and help shape the future of data-driven decision-making in the Business Area Generation Distribution.
What you will do:
- Data Product Development:
- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to understand data sources and requirements.
- Contribute to the development of reusable G D data products across multiple data domains.
- Support the publication of trusted datasets for reporting, BI, and analytics.
- Work closely with the Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect and other team members.
- Data Engineering:
- Develop, test, and operate data pipelines on Databricks using Python (PySpark) and SQL.
- Transform raw source data into curated, business-ready datasets based on agreed data models.
- Support ingestion of data from ERP systems, business applications, and operational systems.
- Data Quality Reliability:
- Implement data quality rules, checks, and monitoring within Python-based data pipelines.
- Document datasets, transformations, and assumptions.
- Support incident analysis and continuous improvement of data pipelines.
What you bring who you are:
- Required qualifications:
- Several years of experience in data engineering or a closely related technical role.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks or comparable data platforms.
- Proficiency in Python for data engineering, including PySpark-based data pipelines.
- Good knowledge of SQL and data transformation concepts.
- Experience with Git-based version control (e.g., GitHub or similar).
- Interest in building reusable, high-quality data products.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Professional experience with Databricks in a productive environment.
- Familiarity with Delta Lake and data modeling.
- Basic experience consuming APIs (e.g., REST) as data sources.
- Experience in the energy sector.
- Personal competencies:
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to coordinate across teams and work independently.
- Languages:
- English (required).
- German (a plus).
